Gross Motor Delays

Gross motor delays can be very stressful for parents and we are here to simplify it and let you know what to expect as your child learns many different milestones. Many concerns often relate to skills such as, but is not limited to:

  • Difficulty holding their head up in tummy time

  • Not rolling in either direction

  • Challenges with sitting balance

  • Skipping crawling

  • Avoiding bearing weight through their legs

  • Confidence issues with not letting go to walk

  • Stuck at the same skill for several months.

Our assessment will address all questions and concerns:

  • We will start with a conversation and history about some of the developmental concerns noticed and any issues addressed by your pediatrician or physician.

  • From there we will assess the body to make sure that all the muscles and joints are moving as they should and that there are no restrictions holding them back.

  • At this age we realize they might be fussy with different skills and will meet your child where they are at! We will get creative with play to assess their skills and place them in different positions that would be age appropriate to give us our best representation of what they can achieve.

  • We then will work together to use your home to adapt the environment to challenge the skills we are wanting to accomplish by giving you several exercises to help achieve the goals discussed.

Every child develops at a different stage and it is important to not compare to others of the same age. Some things just take more practice and we are here to help you achieve those goals!

"Comparison is the thief of joy."
